Thoughts to Hold On To HOLD ON ! ! ! As I write those two words, I think how they could be the beginning of numerous newsletters that would emphasize a variety of emotions, struggles, victories, frustrations, breakthroughs, and memories, all coming as a result of the challenging time we are traveling through. It could be a newsletter with the opening line something such as, "HOLD ON to happiness anywhere you can find it, and use it to build other positive emotions to keep you motivated."

A Need for Consistency Consistency--something inside of us needs it, wants it, and we are often driven to great lengths to achieve it. Our human nature dictates that we are most comfortable when things happen the same way over and over again. Although variety and a sense of adventure keep life interesting and engaging, it is the little consistencies that keep us grounded and feeling in control of our world.

When an owner or senior manger is looking for someone that they want to promote, they look for someone who is able to solve problems and answer questions. We place a lot of value in those individuals who have been able to get the answers in the shortest amount of time. When I reflect upon my career, I can see that I was promoted more than once because I was able to solve problems for the organization. The challenge is that the strength that we established in order to grow our careers can also become a deterrent in the development of others.
