it means to give people in the company the opportunity, the respect
and the recognition to improve and WORK SMARTER.
- We understand
what is needed to clearly define and communicate systems, allowing
us to look for ways to improve them.
- We have
established the foundation to next week's session on PROCESS MAPPING.
Week 4
- Introduction to Process Maps
- The
importance of examining the details of a process and putting it into
a visual format, A PROCESS MAP, in order to analyze it and improve
upon it.
- The
difference between CURRENT STATE and FUTURE STATE of a process or
system.
- Teams
are established to conduct our first TEAM EXERCISE next week when
we create several process maps based off of your lists.
Week 5
- Team Exercise - Drawing a Process Map Week 6 - Process Map Review and
Discussion
- Why
and how process maps are an effective tool to understanding how a
process works and where it can be improved
- Several
of our company processes in their current state as presented by the
groups or individuals
- The
next step toward improving the process from a current state today
to where we would see more value and less waste from this process
in the future
Week 7
- Builders, Destroyers and Working Smarter
- Realize
we have a choice of attitudes each day.
- Understand
a destroyer attitude and how to minimize its impact.
- Understand
a builder attitude and how to build on it to move forward.
Week 8
- Introduction to the 7 Types of Waste
- Learn
the 7 types of waste as identified and used by Ariens Company in their
Lean Management Process.
- Explore
the examples you selected from the homework and identify which types
of waste they are.
- Identify
which types of waste occur most in our departments or company.
Week 9
- Team Exercise - Identifying Waste in Your Process Map
- The
teams are able to take a focused and serious approach to reviewing
their past process maps.
- We have
labeled and identified as many areas of waste as possible on the map.
- We have
put some time estimates together to get an estimated time waste that
your list of wastes in the process map is causing.
Week 10
- The Thrival Campaign
- Why
the Thrival Campaign is an effective tool and the steps in completing
one
- We do
a Thrival Campaign on a test subject.
- How
the Thrival Campaign will be applied to what we have accomplished
to date with the Process Map and the identified waste
Week 11
- Team Exercise - Drive Out the Waste
- The
teams create a plan that will address and begin to make a difference
over the next week in one of the areas identified in their lists of
waste in the Process Map.
- Emphasize
that the Thrival Campaign is to be completed over the next week so
they must pick a project that can be accomplished in the short term.
- Each
team has written a Thrival Campaign with whos and whens to be followed
this next week.
- The
session is closing with each of the teams understanding the next step
in the Thrival Campaign and prepared to work the plan this week.
Week 12
- Results from the Thrival Campaign
- Appreciate
the efforts and results that everyone put in the past week.
- Why
possibly no results were accomplished by a team or a process and to
use it as a learning experience to reduce the likelihood that it will
happen again
- How
we can sustain the results we have achieved the past week
Week 13
- First Quarter Review and What Is Ahead
- The
concepts we have learned in our first 13 weeks
- Have
an update on how everyone is proceeding on their Thrival Campaign
- What
is coming up in quarters 2, 3 and 4

QUARTER Week 14 - Culture - People - Process
- A definition
of the concepts . . . CULTURE-PEOPLE-PROCESS
- How
strong we are as a company in these areas
- What
the WORKING SMARTER TRAINING CHALLENGE will do to STRENGTHEN us in

Week 15
- The Ariens Oval
- The
concepts of the Ariens Oval
- Establish
the criteria on what to observe.
- Set
some guidelines on how to observe.
Week 16
- What Did You Observe?
- As a
group, you can determine some of the commonalities in your observations
over the past week.
- Determine
if these commonalities are adding value or creating waste.
- Discuss
how the concept, the ARIENS OVAL, will be able to help each of us
work smarter on a daily basis.
Week 17
- Intro to 5S
- A definition
and the potential of 5S as a tool for us to work smarter
- Get
practical insight into how using 5S really does work.
- Each
of the 5S's and how we will be using them over the next several weeks
in the training sessions
Week 18
- Sort
- The
importance of taking this first step. . .
- As a
team we create a "STANDARD WORK" for the SORT PROCESS.
- Some
potential areas for us to get started on as a company
Week 19
- Set in Order and Shine
- What
we are able to gain in the Shine step

Week 20

- Standardize - Introduction to Standard Work

STANDARD WORK is and why it is so important to WORKING SMARTER

each person becomes responsible for understanding and following the
Standard Work for their position and tasks

Standard Work will help to implement the Set in Order plan created
last week.
Week 22
- Team Exercise - Standard Work
- Continued
emphasis of the importance of Standard Work

Work is created to implement the plan this week
- The
team is prepared to go to work on implementing their Set in Order
plan.
Week 23
- Sustain
- The
key elements of SUSTAIN and the importance of this 5th S
- How
Ariens uses the audit to sustain the progress they have made with
the 5S's
- Discuss
how the key elements of SUSTAIN will assist in your SET IN ORDER plan
continuing.
Week 24
- Sustain
- Visuals
are created to help SUSTAIN the program implemented in your area.

session is created to train the employees on how to sustain the plan
you implemented.

has the responsibility and ability to create the plan to SUSTAIN any
program implemented.
